Visit Geneva and its beautiful Lac Léman

Have you been to Switzerland? I popped in for a weekend a couple of weeks ago (one of my many travel plans for this year!). The main aim of my visit was to see a friend in Bern, but I stayed in Geneva. And the hotel I stayed at was super close to Geneva’s picturesque and gorgeous Lac Léman.

So let me show you what a beautiful site it is, and why it’s worth taking a walk there no matter the time of the day.

The morning at Lac Léman

I would recommend taking a walk around the lake early in the morning. That’s before the crowds flood the pavements and you can easily navigate your way to admire the views.

So let’s have a look at the views 🙂

The vastness of the open space by Lac Leman is incredible. And the mountains in the distance add to the feeling of serenity and peace.

What continuously grasped my attention was the unbelievably clear water of the lake.

Lac Leman

One of the highlights of the lake is a fountain. You can’t miss it. Unless you’re at the lake before 9am 🙂 (there is actually a schedule how the fountain – 140 meters tall – operates through the year).

I also loved seeing an outdoor yoga /Pilates class and this huge ferris wheel.

As you can see, there is literally hardly anyone around at 9am on a Sunday 🙂

Sunset at the Lake

I arrived in Geneva in the evening, and my first encounter with Lac Léman was at sunset. And what a gorgeous evening that was!

I loved how the Swiss enjoyed the warm evening of the Friday. They flooded the lawns and the shores of the lake, making the most of the weather. Some swam – and the water was not warm, can I just point out !

The sunset that day was beautiful, and the colours of sky were stunning. Wherever I turned, the views were just jaw-dropping.

You won’t be surprised to hear that I have lots of pictures of this lake. But I think nothing beats seeing it for yourself! Hopefully I’ve inspired you to visit Geneva and its lake!
